January 14th I left for Ouray, Colorado for a week of Ice Climbing with my brother John. John is owner of Yates Climbing and Rescue Equipment and had a booth at the three day Ouray Ice Climbing Festival. It gave me an opportunity to see climbing friends that I had not seen in five to ten years.  The festival was a great success with over 500 people pouring into Ouray on Friday for the three day party.  Thanks to the New Belgium Brewery and the 31 Kegs of beer that they sponsored (that means that it was FREE) a good time was had by all.  This was the polar opposite of the tropics!!!!!!!

Since we arrived on Tuesday, we spent the first couple of days climbing vertical and overhanging ice at the end of the canyon in the new area called Southpark.  During the past two years the ice park has added Funterland and Southpark so there is over a mile and a half of man made frozed waterfalls that are as long as 40M.
