Late for airport, Brian oversleeps. Then have to return
home for sunglasses. Plane leaves at 9:30. End up at wrong gate - Cindy's
fault. Kyle and Cindy run to gate-Brian brings up' the rear. I am the
fastest runner! Liquor brought for Kelcey ande Sylvia and for trade. Two
bottle end up in my bags. Breakage a concern! Cindy pouts. Guy on plane
thinks Cindy is BEAUTIFUL and asks for number. Kyle jumps seat and intervenes.
Brian pouts subtly. Watched movie Old School on plane as well as Chicago,
and Kangaroo Jack, and Bringing Down the House. Arrive at Papeete at 6:10
pm from Los Angeles. Brian finds a luau at the hotel. Kyle and I sleep.
Sylvia met us at the airport and gives us lays. Great breakfast at hotel
the next morning.

Leave Tahiti for Uturoa Raiatea 8:20 am.
End up in wrong line AGAIN. Kyle had migraine, Cindy has razor burn thought
to be cancer relapse. (Stress). Picked up by Jim and Kelcey. Took boat
to store. Immediately surfed (Kyle puked) Diving at Teavarua Pass after
and saw 8 - 10 ft. shark and 3 eels. Sushi for lunch and fish chowder
for dinner. Cake and cookies for Brian's 50th birthday.

Went diving at shipwreck. Cindy snorkeled near over-water bungalows. Sunny
day and sailed to beautiful area near small village of Haamene. Checked
out volleyball at a local gym and Brian wanted to buy a coconut but was
too scared. Had grilled chicken for dinner and soup blowing in the wind
for lunch. Storm at night (Chaos!) Kyle fell out of his bed. Monopoly
fights begin. Beautiful water, sky, islands…

Sailed to Tahaa. No diving today. Cloudy weather.
Went to vanilla farm and left Kyle for an hour and a half as we hiked
down a mile and a half trail. Kyle claims no mental trauma! Visit pearl
farm and Cindy has love affair with a rare blue pearl. Sushi for lunch.
Boys go snorkeling for giant claims and harvest 24. Kyle made to go but
has fun anyway. COLD. Brian worried. No BM since arrival. Major topic
of conversation for the day. Kyle takes first shower. Feast at dinner:
Steaks, clams with coconut milk and curry paste, shrimp/garlic/pasta
and wine, scotch, etc.
July 15, 2003 Cindy's 40th birthday!
Brian wakes
up with headache and celebrates having BM. Diving at Toahoti pass - 140
feet. See giant eel with head as big as a cow. Cloudy and cold today.
Back to pearl farm where love affair with pearl is completed with purchase.
Brian negotiates $20 discount. Brian gives vanilla and another pearl for
b-day gift. Gusty winds today and rain 5:15 pm- Brian is in a foul mood
and begins to look at magazine with pictures of "bare breasted Tahitian
women". Cindy now in foul mood. Kyle learns what "grunt" means. We begin
to write notes of trip over rum and coke. Happy Birthday cake today (half
chocolate and half vanilla). Kyle becomes a man by taking a gulp (by mistake)
of rum and coke. Went to town (Patio) and Brian buys Mentos (pink grapefruit,
sour apple, etc).
July 16, 2003
Brian, Kyle and Chris go to town for bread.
Store won't sell them any! Hoping for sunny day today. Our hopes are dashed
and we have more rain and wind and stay on the boat all day with no snorkeling
or diving. Brian continues not to shave and begins to look like Jack Nicholson
in the Shining. (Redrum, Redrum).
July 17, 2003
Sailed back to Raiatea in rough weather and rain.
Went to town to shop and hiked for a while until we could get a taxi.
Bought souvenirs for friends and family back home. Bought bread and cheese
to tide us over for lunch. Kelcey sold all of her jewelry to Flora and
became RICH for the day! Flora later joined us for drinks and dinner.
We ate and drank to excess. On the way back to the dinghy, the stars were
amazing and captivated all of us. We all stayed on top of the boat to
continue sky watching and saw a shooting star and what was thought to
be a space shuttle burning back to earth (?) Could be the after affects
of the scotch!
July 18, 2003
Another windy but partly sunny day. Today is
our departure day and we plan on cooking fish on the boat and hanging
out before we go back to town to catch our plan at 7:30.
