After a wonderful trip from Penerhyn to Manahiki “the Pearl Reconnaissance” was able to find and obtain 2 perfect stunning pearls for the necklace we have been working on for the past 2 years. It was our last chance and we had to move from our previous “trade only, no buy” policy........... but at $17 each for 12mm pearls it was a no brainer. They were the only 2 round pearls anyone knew of on the island. Once leaving the island and meeting up with Jim who was driving the boat around in circles for 2 hours as the anchorage was nadda, Nick and I came right back to the boat and laid out all the pearls, finding to our happiness that with these two large ones we had ‘Just” enough to make a perfect strand of multicolored Tahitian black pearls. It is beautiful!! We are jazzed  --soon we will have it strung professionally in Australia--then I will put a photo here for you to look at.
